So I’m drinking cran-cherry stuff again - you can probably guess why. I think the last stone didn’t break up but just stopped moving because last night on the couch I suddenly felt like someone had kicked me in the right side of my middle/lower back. Right where the original stone pains were. I’m still going to work but I’m probably going to have to bring a bottle of cran-crap with me until this is all over.

Sorry for not posting lately. I’ve been busy at work and haven’t been bringing my Macbook to work with me.

Even my tomato seedlings have suffered due to me not watering them regularly. They were all wilted this morning when I did finally water them but when I got home they perked up so I think they’ll be okay. Still no sign of the pepper seedlings so I don’t know what’s going on there.

Got the second LED grow panel in this week so I’ll set that up with a timer on both of them this weekend.

Blah...blah...blah... )

So I’m home today thanks to a lesson in physics yesterday.

We’re pulling 30 years of crap wiring out of one of the company buildings so we can run new wire.

Now if anybody has never done this you have to understand something. On a suspended ceiling once you start pulling a cleanly cut wire from one end it will start accelerating of it’s own will due to gravity pulling the cable to the floor and overcoming the friction of the wire that is still laying on the ceiling tiles.

Anyone care to guess what happens when it reaches the end? That’s right! The end acts like a whip as it goes over the side.

I must have just been in the wrong place facing the wrong direction as all of a sudden there was a snap, a blue flash in my left eye, instant pain, and blurred vision. O_x

So my back is still killing me thanks to one Mr. Stone, Kidney. I’ll get through it but along with other things happening recently I’m more than a little cranky.

No fries or pie today. I really need to stop eating them. )

So the second kidney stone of my life is moving slowly on to its final destination - and kicking me in the back along with it.

I’ll be fine though. These little trials in life just seem to strengthen me. Mind you I’m not looking forward to the final destination if you know what I mean.

Yeeeouch! )

So [livejournal.com profile] acelightning gave me the solution for my germination dilemma. The garage is too cold and the LED grow light won’t give off any heat so I need a heat source. Her suggestion was a heated box. In thinking about that I wondered “Why can’t I just put a heating pad underneath the tray?” and I remembered the tag on most heating pads that says “Do not leave on overnight.”

So what could I use? Well it turns out that I found just the right thing - a pet bed heater. They’re designed for low heat and are designed to be left on for long periods of time without incident. And they should raise the soil temperature in the seedlings more than enough to germinate properly. I’ll still have to turn up the heat a little but not nearly as much as I would have before. The heating pad will ding my electricity a bit but I’m prepared for that.

So I’m pretty sure I have another kidney stone due to the pains I’m having today. They’re in exactly the same place and about the same intensity. Bah!

No big deal really. I’ll follow the same procedure as last time and the stone should break up.

My wife did some serious de-cluttering yesterday so tonight I’ll likely vacuum when I get home and then we should be pretty much done with the living room. She wants to do the library next. I argue that the kitchen should be next but in reality it’s pretty clean except for the wood floor which needs to be scrubbed.

Macjournal just horked and I had to restore from the copy stored on my thumb drive. (A copy that I will promptly update as soon as I post this.)

So it looks like I might have to update Macjournal just in case.

In other news....it’s snowing again. Thankfully it seems light at the moment so I’ll probably wait until it accumulates a little before plowing.

It’s okay getting back to work and I’m getting things done but *shrug*.

So other than almost losing everything I’ve ever typed into Macjournal things are moving right along.

Considering paying off the one personal loan in a few weeks here then letting the auto-deducted money go into savings. It’ll take time to build up cash but that should be okay.

My wife’s back is killing her and she should be at home in bed but she’s not going to do that because she needs to save vacation time for our trip to Montana this year.

I finished the basic layout of the garden plan for this year on the computer yesterday. Now I just need to accumulate bricks and eventually topsoil. We’re expanding it out to the end of the garage and replacing the fence with a better one. I’m also going to put down weed guard and rocks between the back of the garden and the neighbor’s fence so I can get behind the climber beans I’m going to put there AND so that I don’t have to trim the weeds there as well.

I’m trying the L-Tryptophan for sleep aid this week. So far it hasn’t kicked in but we’ll just have to wait and see. I know that melatonin keeps me awake for some reason so I can’t try the valarian/Tryptophan/melatonin comb unfortunately.

I need to seriously get cracking on the garage so I can get set up to start plants in there soon. I need to be able to do that and still be able to move the racks out of the way for vehicles if they need to be repaired. (And I still need to make a place for the “ugly green couch” as my wife calls it.) Getting organized is high on my list because after that it’s all maintenance and improvements.

Back to the grind after the holidays... *sigh*
