So my right lower wisdom tooth is still giving me a pain but I’m going to stick it out next week until we have more money.

No calls from LEOs about my LED grow lamp yet but that may yet happen. Or maybe not. I honestly don’t care.

Grind...grind...grind... )

So I’m considering adding the RPG/400 programming language to my skills because it’s an in-demand skill on a regular basis. Even though I’m trying to reduce spending I ordered three books today from E-Bay and Amazon to the tune of $30 total. But even with the books unless I can find an AS400 emulator or pick up a system somewhere cheap that’s going to be an issue. I turned down one years ago because of space so there’s that bit of suckage involved in this as well. :-(

So the second kidney stone of my life is moving slowly on to its final destination - and kicking me in the back along with it.

I’ll be fine though. These little trials in life just seem to strengthen me. Mind you I’m not looking forward to the final destination if you know what I mean.

Yeeeouch! )

So they did layoffs at work today. Thankfully I’m not among them but due to my being in charge of certain things I had to know a couple days ahead of time. That kind of ate at me because it meant I had to work with people I’ve known for quite some time, several years some of them, and not say a thing. Act like everything was okay.

I hate doing that shit. I know it’s necessary but I hate it with a passion. *sigh*

No pie today despite what it says below... )

And by the I mean 4 to 9 inches of snow. Bah!

(Yes, yes, I know snow isn’t really evil. Yes I know it’s a necessary part of life. Yes I’m just being irritable about it.)

Can we be done with the snow and move into the constant rain already? I’m so done with winter...

And here I was just getting ready to tear into the garden space. Oh well I need to get a permit for the new fence anyway.

My mother is stopping by during Spring Break so the remote support application is moot as I’m just going to tell her to bring her computer down with her and I’ll fix it here. That will save me some headaches and maybe I’ll have decided on a remote desktop application by that time.

Potentially canned babble behind the cut... )

The cold medicine is helping really it is! *shudders at the taste*

So we’re pretty close to some organizational milestones at home. I truly hope I can get the garage/third bedroom stuff sorted out this weekend. That would allow us to shuffle loose stuff from the rest of the house into that room and clean/organize the remaining stuff.

Having the house nice and clean will allow us to tackle other things without having the main house stuff on our minds and it’ll be easier to keep clean as well.

And hopefully I’ll be able to start the garden plants in the garage soon as well. Some of the things like the pepper plants just have to be set up and started by the end of February if I want a decent harvest from them. I’m not doing like I did last year and start too late and plant too early. I love my heated garage... )

A wonderful Monday to start off the week. Network traffic I don’t understand, bandwidth limiting issues, tiredness due to insomnia, and a great many other things. Wonderful.

Got some more stuff organized yesterday so hopefully by next century I’ll have it all done.

And since talking to my local Nextel/Sprint franchise place my Nextel continues to hang up my data connection and reboot at the most inopportune times. It’s odd that something that worked so consistently for so many _years_ suddenly starts to have problems the moment I talk to them about upgrading. I don’t seriously think they’re screwing with anything but in this day and age of corporate fuckery I wouldn’t put it past them.

Been catching up on TV shows I’ve missed thanks to Netflix. I’m now almost through season 2 of Heroes.

Not much else going on really. I’m just biding my time and getting things done. The same old things still apply - I need to be more active, I need to lose the weight, I need sleep, etc.

One thing that is more consistent is the taking of my vitamins in the morning. I took them without food today but I went to sleep on a full stomach so that wasn’t an issue.

Still trying to figure out what to do with my neighbor’s system. His chip is definitely good as do the other parts appear to be. I think I’ll make one more test and then just get him another board when we can afford it. The question is do I get the same board or do I get a different one. I don’t want to have to re-load Windows but it looks like it might come to that.

My mind is a little stalled at the moment. I hope I can get the rest of the shuffling done thing week. Having everything at least in the _general_ place its supposed to be will be a big relief because then it’s just minor shuffling. Nothing has to go far then and it’s a lot easier to work on getting everything in order.

Came up with a wonderful idea for the garage to strengthen it using a framework of long cross beams around the edge of the inner walls that would leave the center beam able to be removed and the cable ties moved up creating a completely open ceiling. Definitely a long-term plan.

I also came up with something else. Remember the garden monitors shaped like crystals? Turns out if I use the casing resin I can embed broken solar cells into them and make them completely battery powered. I think that would look really cool as well.

I definitely need to get more sleep...

So we’ve done it and our choice for the presidency is now in office.

I for one am looking forward to what he is going to do in his first 100 days. This should prove very very interesting.

I’m not going to say much more on this today except that I now have something I didn’t have before. Pride in a number of my fellow Americans. That’s long been lacking.

I hope it continues and I know _I_ will try and work it into my life goals.

There’s an idea - be someone that _everyone_ can be proud of. A tall order but doable by anybody if they try.

So I feel a little better now that I gave my neighbor the news about his computer. )

A little sore and tired today. I went to work yesterday from 9 to 4 so I could get a bunch of things done in the plant and a few other things.

Thankfully both vehicles started at least today but then it wasn’t -21F this morning either. I’m done with winter... )

So I have a tendency to listen to people on a regular basis. In fact monitoring the conversations around me in the office (and other places) is a wonderful way to catch technical support calls/problems and help people with them before they become big issues.

I hear a lot of things doing this. Sometimes things I don’t want to hear but regardless a lot of things.

One thing I’m hearing more and more regularly is that people are waking up consistently at 3 or 4 in the morning. I do this regularly as well.

Now I know that many people wake up in the wee hours of the morning for whatever reason, bathroom, car doors, barking dogs, snacks, etc. but to have that many people waking up at around the same time usually means there’s some cause.

The problem, once again, is that I don’t have enough data to come to a conclusion as to why it’s happening and why at that particular time.

It could be anything.

But then it could be something... )

You can thank my wife for the title.

That and the wasps that are invading our home. I’m meeting the exterminator here this afternoon so he can spray the nest in the outside wall and then hopefully inspect the house to make sure there aren’t any more nests to be dealt with.

II killed three of the damn things this morning in the kitchen. I really really hate bees and wasps since having one fly up into my pants when I was a kid. Not. Fun. Ever since then I’m okay with one or maybe two of them and can kill them but any more than that and I actually start to panic.

Fears like this bother me because they are serious weaknesses. I don’t have more than a couple but they can seriously leave me tangled up so to speak if they overwhelm me.

And besides - I used to _like_ petting the fuzzy bumble bees. :-(

Still need to move more stuff down into the basement. I’ve been distracted by the wasps among other things.

Started playing with the Freeduino unit yesterday just to see how well it would drive a power transistor and it turns out to do okay at that. I still can’t program it from the linux box but that doesn’t bother me as it’s easy enough to add a serial dongle to the G4 out there and plug the Freeduino into that.

Pie today. Definitely pie.

*sigh* Hopefully there won’t be another nest and this will end the terror of the wasps in the house. I’ve got spray-foam to seal up the hole when he’s done.

I’ll probably give the garden the final ka-bosh here this weekend or next. It’s done well for a starter garden but I need to do better next year.

Very likely I’ll start some plants in the garage before spring so they are nice and hardy when they get planted. Of course I’ll have to ask the police to stop by and see them just so I don’t get them called on me. “Oh my god! He’s got green growing things in his garage! He must be growing pot!” *ahem* Nope...never seen that happen to people...nope...

Unless things go very very well I likely won’t get a greenhouse constructed this year. I just don’t have the resources yet. As long as I keep the garage tidy though I should be able to accumulate wood that I can use next spring to make the greenhouse and many other things.

*checks clock on MacBook*

Time to go deal with annoying flying things...
