I'm still on site in Chicago but as far as I've been able to determine the power is still out at our house due to the storm so nothing from my own servers works at all.

I hope the battery sump pump is working okay otherwise it's going to be a mess when I get home...

Or I talked the moon into a favor - either one - because the power has come back on as of this evening.

The last estimate we got was another full day but happily that was only a pessimistic estimate. No water in the basement even.

This is all a good thing because once again I need to catch the train at oh-fsck-early tomorrow to get to the city on time for this week’s inventory job. The crank charged weather radio _does_ have an alarm and I _do_ have it set just in case but my phone should easily wake me up in time if I don’t get up at my usual 4:00 am.

My wife and child are hopefully resting comfortably in the A/C at my in-laws house. We sent them and our refrigerator perishables over there because they had power.

Tomorrow I get to ride the train and sleep more if possible. (The train ride ends in Chicago so no chance of missing my stop.) And I get to see cool sights like I saw today.

I was on the 35th floor of a building today in Chicago when the short but nasty storm hit.

Let me tell you - it’s DAMN cool to see all the skyscrapers around you look like giant waterfalls with lightning hitting the top of them. It was very cool and very surreal. 8-)

Tonight though I sleep on the couch in an effort to keep cool.

Later this week after working...more writing, more enamel.

Right now though...more sleep.
