So once more into the breach....
I start a simple tech job this Tuesday. I will be just fixing computers for a small mom & pop computer business that is about 20 minutes from the house. It’s part time to start (9 am - 2 pm) but will become a full time job provided I perform well. And these are guys I’ve been dealing with for years as a customer so I know them to some degree.
There are both good points and bad points about this job but it seems like a good fit for me. If I like it and I work out there I’ll be there for 30 days then re-evaluated.
I’m not really concerned about the money (I’ll have to put away 50% of it for taxes just in case provided it’s a 1099 job but that doesn’t bother me) because my wife makes the mortgage payment and I just need to pay the rest of the bills.
And as of earlier this week we officially paid off our personal loan and only have the house, utilities, and similar expenses to pay now.
As long as the job works out for me this should be a nice fit.
in other news we seem to have survived the plague at our house - we were sick all last week and most of this week. I heard on the news that since the normal flu season is not active right now any current flue cases are definitely H1N1. And since I had a fever last week it’s quite likely I have managed to survive the pig flu. I really wasn’t worried about it and I’m not going to the doctor to get tested now that we’re all better. And we pretty much sequestered ourselves once we got sick - her office wouldn’t let her stay home but she didn’t go anywhere else.
Fall is upon us finally - there was frost on all the cars this morning. (My wife sent me out for bagels and coffee this morning. *grumble*)
With some of the final 401k money I just bought a bunch of repair parts for my truck. Even after 497,000 miles that thing is an incredibly reliable vehicle. And whatever I spend to repair it I’m still ahead since it’s long since paid off.
The hatchback however is a 28 year old Chryster 2.2l which of course....has a vacuum leak. ;-)
Well...back to the grind at home...
